There's a certain part of growing up I've never really liked
You know when we all move on and leave each other's lives?
You could say it's an essential arc to the story that we write,
But it's just another theme that doesn't really interest me.
I'll set aside my thoughts on why
I've seen so many come and go and I'm always assured it's fine
So many times I've stood here, don't know if I'll ever change my mind.
I'll believe anything you say as long as you look me in my eyes.
Gasping for some sort of reprieve while I'm staring down the ends of time.
I'll set aside my thoughts on why
I wish I could rearrange
The paths that led us towards today.
What's happened has happened, it's in the past.
And all I can do is hope that some of you will stay.
Not long ago I lost your touch in the fog,
I let the mist descend, but now I comprehend,
The time forever gone.
Life goes on.
I wish I could rearrange
The paths that led us towards today.
What's happened has happened, it's in the past.
All I can do is hope that some of you will stay.
I wish I could rearrange
The paths that led us towards today
What's happened has happened, it's in the past.
(Right here, right now, just won't stay.)
(In this life of writing to erase.)
And all I can do is hope that some of you will stay.

I've tried to explain, to ignore my pain.
You said that these scars mean you love me.
"Oh god, it hurts!"
You said, "home was a safe place."
You can't save cold hearts with an army.
Together we fought (Together we were brave)
We thought time was all that would change.
We were wrong, we were wrong.
Now only hurt remains.
Separate we got lost, more than once, at the wrong time.
Watching your light fade with day.
I wanted to call out your name but on my time
It looks like you'll have to save your own life
You came into our room, a storm tore off the roof
And you told us to clean out the closet
Your fist hits as hard as your words
Together we fought (Together we were brave)
We thought time was all that would change.
We were wrong, we were wrong.
Now only hurt remains.
We found out your sister can't take anymore
'Cause the sins of the father run blood deep

So I'll wave goodbye to a ship that'll floats beneath the waves tonight, as I sit alone on the shoreline. You are those waves, the very ones that'll rip me from this place and drag me off to a cold and salty grave.
Tin men like me don't swim, we sink.
Screaming from the top of, of the city
Oh the bright lights they looked so pretty
Now they're just a blur as far as I'm concerned
As I'm tumbling down
Remember how you said you, said you'd miss me
Oh how time stopped when you kissed me
Now I'll watch you burn I guess I've finally learned
As I'm tumbling down
What's the point in staying at the port side when everyone and everything is telling me that I should jump this ship? Let go of your emotion. I'll spread my sails and I'll go as far I can through your perfume ocean.
I'll find my own desert island.
As I'm tumbling down
Your makeup is painting my shoulder again
I can't think of a better way for the night to end
Just don't call me in the morning
You and I can't commit to a god damn thing
So abandon ship, I guess I'm finally free
You think you're so much better than this
You think that I'm no better than this
You think you're so much better than this
You think that I'm no better than this
You think you're so much better than this, but I know you better
(You think that I'm no better than this)
You think you're so much better than this
You think that I'm no better than this
You think you're so much better than this
You think that I'm no better than this

Give me a second to remind myself that
Nothing is truly everlasting.
I'll turn away only to fall on my face
But you're there to pick me up again.
I'll take a second to catch my breath
'Cause my worn-out lungs they need a rest.
These days I feel my mind begin to slip
'Cause there's never any time to reminisce.
There's so much that I want to say
But the words they never come my way. (Never come my way!)
Back home I know I'll always have a place,
It'll always be our Echo Base!
We all have something that we don't want to forget.
Whether it's late nights, fake beers, fake cigarettes...
I can't help but feel that there's something that I missed.
Everyone's moving forward while I'm stuck on the waiting list.
There's so much that I want to say
But the words they never come my way. (Never come my way!)
Back home I know I'll always have a place,
It'll always be our Echo Base!
DADADADADADADADADADADADADADADADADADA
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There's so much that I want to say
But the words they never come my way. (Never come my way!)
Back home I know I'll always have a place,
It'll always be our Echo Base!
There's so much that I want to say
But the words they never come my way. (Never come my way!)
Back home I know I'll always have a place,
It'll always be our Echo Base!
